Nothing kills a clan bingo faster than a cheating accusation on the final night. Clear OSRS bingo rules and a solid drop verification process protect your event, your prize pool, and your friendships. This guide gives you a copy-ready rules template, a screenshot verification standard, and practical anti-cheat measures so every tile is earned fairly.

Why Rules Matter More Than You Think

Bingo events get competitive fast, especially with GP prizes on the line. Without published rules:

  • Players argue over whether banked items count
  • Screenshots get disputed after the fact
  • Teams feel cheated and stop participating
  • Hosts make inconsistent, in-the-moment calls

Publishing rules before the event removes ambiguity and makes your decisions defensible. Post them in your clan Discord and pin them.

A Copy-Ready OSRS Bingo Rules Template

Adapt the sections below to your clan. Keep it short enough that people actually read it.

1. Event Window

  • The event runs from start date/time + time zone to end date/time + time zone.
  • Only drops and completions obtained inside this window count.

2. Eligible Accounts

  • Declare your account(s) before the event starts.
  • No account swapping mid-event unless approved by a host.
  • Alts and shared accounts are allowed / not allowed — state clearly.

3. Prepping Rules

  • Items banked before the start do / do not count.
  • Common compromise: gathered/grindable items must be obtained during the event, but consumables (food, potions, supplies) may be pre-banked.
  • State explicitly whether clue caskets, larrans/brimstone keys, and other delayed loot may be saved up and opened during the event.

4. Evidence Requirements

  • Every completion needs a timestamped screenshot.
  • The drop or achievement must be visible (chatbox drop message, collection log slot, or achievement popup).
  • Username must be visible in the screenshot.
  • Edited or cropped-to-hide-context images are rejected.

5. Teamplay

  • Drops only count for the team of the player who received them.
  • Splitting tiles within a team is allowed; trading completions between teams is not.

6. Disputes

  • Hosts have final say.
  • Disputes must be raised within X hours of submission.
  • A panel of 2–3 named judges resolves contested tiles.

The Drop Verification Standard

Drop verification is where fairness is won or lost. Set one standard and apply it to everyone.

Use RuneLite's timestamped screenshots

RuneLite's Screenshot plugin can stamp the in-game time and date onto captures. Require it. A timestamp inside the event window is the single strongest piece of evidence.

What a valid screenshot shows

  • The drop message in chat (for boss drops and pickups), or
  • The collection log slot newly filled, or
  • The achievement / level-up / combat achievement popup
  • The player's username (RuneLite displays it; or include the chat tab)
  • A timestamp within the event window

What to reject

  • Screenshots with no timestamp or a timestamp outside the window
  • Reused images from a previous event
  • Heavily cropped images that hide the chatbox or context
  • "Trust me" completions with no proof

Common Cheating Methods (and How to Stop Them)

Cheating methodHow to prevent it
Pre-banking grindable itemsRequire in-window drop messages, not just "having" the item
Reusing old screenshotsRequire event-window timestamps via RuneLite
Account sharing / buying carriesDeclare accounts up front; ban undeclared accounts
Photoshopped dropsRequire uncropped chatbox + timestamp; spot-check rares
Trading completions between teamsDrops count only for the receiving player's team
Submitting after the deadlineHard cutoff; log submission time automatically

The most effective single defence is automatic submission logging — when the platform records who submitted what and when, most disputes resolve themselves.

Automate Verification to Save Your Sanity

Manual verification means a host scrolling Discord, comparing timestamps, and updating a spreadsheet at 2am. It does not scale, and tired hosts make inconsistent calls.

A dedicated bingo platform fixes this:

  • Players upload screenshots directly to each tile
  • Submission time is logged automatically (so deadline cheating is obvious)
  • Hosts approve or reject from one queue
  • Approved tiles update the leaderboard instantly
  • Completions post to Discord automatically — see our Discord integration guide

That turns verification from a chore into a few clicks, and gives you an auditable record if anyone contests a result.

Frequently Asked Questions

What proof is needed for OSRS bingo drops?

A timestamped screenshot showing the drop in chat, a collection log slot, or an achievement popup, with the player's username visible and the timestamp inside the event window. RuneLite's screenshot plugin is the standard tool.

Should banked items count in OSRS bingo?

Most clans require grindable items to be obtained during the event (proven by an in-window drop message), while allowing pre-banked consumables. Decide and publish this before you start.

How do you stop cheating in a clan bingo?

Require RuneLite timestamps, declare accounts up front, set a hard submission deadline, and use a platform that logs submissions automatically. Spot-check rare drops manually.

Who settles bingo disputes?

Name 2–3 trusted judges before the event and give hosts final say. Require disputes to be raised within a set window so results aren't reopened days later.
